Opiuo grew up on family land in rural Motueka, New Zealand, where music festivals were literally hosted in the backyard — but Oscar Davey-Wraight didn't actually think of music as a career path until well into a design career, and only really committed after winning a national DJ competition in 2004 and moving to Melbourne. It's a slower start than most of his festival-circuit peers.
He picked up five awards at the UK Glitch-Hop Awards in 2013 and Best Electronic Album at the New Zealand Music Awards, and has since sold out Red Rocks multiple times and played Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, and Splendour in the Grass — proof that a genre as niche as glitch-hop can still fill some of the biggest rooms in the touring circuit, given enough time.
