Louis The Child started at a Madeon concert in 2012, where two New Trier High School students — Robby Hauldren and Freddy Kennett — met and eventually landed on their duo's name after stumbling across an article randomly titled “Louis the Child” during an unrelated search.

They'd been making music together since 2014 before “It's Strange,” their 2015 single with K.Flay, actually broke through — helped along by a placement on the FIFA 16 soundtrack.

They've since moved from Chicago to Los Angeles and racked up more than 510 million streams across a catalog that refuses to settle into one lane: future bass on “It's Strange,” R&B on “Diddy Bop” with Jacob Banks, straightforward pop hooks on “Better Not” with Wafia.
