MC4D are identical twins Matt and Chris Drake, who did nearly everything together growing up — sharing a bedroom, starting piano around seven or eight — and got into country music and dance music at the same time in high school without ever combining them until the pandemic left them with nothing but time. Down Under Country, the DJ mix series they started mashing up Kygo and Avicii against country songs, topped US SoundCloud dance charts and pulled in more than 10 million streams.
COMPASS, their debut album, formalizes that crossover into something they call 'Folktronica' — indie and folk textures under melodic house production, built for listeners who grew up on both festival anthems and singer-songwriter records rather than picking a side.
