Trixie Mattel — Brian Michael Firkus — had already built two separate careers, drag performer (RuPaul's Drag Race Season 7, All Stars 3 winner) and folk-pop singer-songwriter with two Top 20 Billboard Folk albums, before teaching herself DJing during the pandemic almost as a side project. There was no prior production background to speak of; she learned mixing and beat selection from scratch.
Solid Pink Disco, the immersive party concept that came out of that pandemic experiment, turned into an actual headline DJ tour in 2025 — a third distinct career layered onto an already unusual one, Barbie-pink branding carried through drag, music, and now DJ sets alike.
