Dylan Ragland and Ricky Mears were already established under separate names — Party Favor and Nitti Gritti — before they combined into Sidepiece in 2019, each bringing a different résumé: Ragland had built more than 400 million streams working with Sean Kingston, A$AP Ferg, and Gucci Mane, while Mears, raised in Haiti by missionary parents, had co-produced Bad Bunny's "200 MPH."
"On My Mind," their 2019 collaboration with Diplo built on a sample of 702 and Missy Elliott's "Steelo," is what actually made Sidepiece a name in its own right — it's passed 222 million streams and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording in 2021, a rare instance of two already-successful solo producers combining into something bigger than either act alone.
